OUR STORY

Jim and Cheryl Burkhardt

Down A River, Down A Beer (DARDAB) began in 2014 with Dr. Jim and Cheryl Burkhardt having a conversation over a beer! No surprise there!  They had hosted several small beer events in our community, and had attended several large beer festivals.  They thought maybe they should have a beer festival in Piqua.  “You know what we could do . . . “ is a common phrase to open the door to ideas.  DARDAB has grown to include 99 craft beers, river events, music, food and River Fire Rings.

DARDAB centers around the popularity of craft beer, bike trails, the Great Miami River and getting together with friends.  All the proceeds from DARDAB have gone to promoting our exceptional river and bike trail systems, and thus far we have contributed over $40,000 to organizations such as Protecting Our Water Ways (POWW), Edison State Community College and Upper Valley Career Center!

We have been very fortunate to have great support in our town in the form of sponsorships, volunteers and exciting river activities.  We look forward to seeing you at DARDAB this year.

Over the last 10 years, DARDAB has provided over $50,000 in assistance to support the continued enrichment of our local environment, river stewardship and education. If you or your organization would like to request funds to continue our mission, we have a grant application. You can fill out the grant application and email it to: downariverfund@gmail.com or drop off to the Mainstreet Piqua office.
