Jim and Cheryl Burkhardt

Down A River, Down A Beer (DARDAB) began in 2014 with my wife Cheryl and I having a conversation over a beer! No surprise there!  We had hosted several small beer events in our community, and we had attended several large beer festivals.  We thought maybe we should have a beer festival in Piqua.  “You know what we could do . . . “ is a common phrase to open the door to ideas.  DARDAB has grown to include 99 craft beers, river events, music, food and River Fire Rings.

DARDAB centers around the popularity of craft beer, bike trails, the Great Miami River and getting together with friends.  All the proceeds from DARDAB have gone to promoting our exceptional river and bike trail systems, and thus far we have contributed nearly $25,000 to organizations such as Protecting Our Water Ways (POWW), Edison State Community College and Upper Valley Career Center.

We have been very fortunate to have great support in our town in the form of sponsorships, volunteers and exciting river activities.  We look forward to seeing you at DARDAB this year.

At this year's DARDAB Edison State Community College and the Upper Valley Career Center will have a display featuring their kayaks and water activities.  DARDAB was proud to donate proceeds from the previous events, which totalled $18,000.  Those funds were used to purchase kayaks and gear in order to develop water programming for the students.  This would include ecologic, environmental, recreational and economic opportunities.  The Great Miami River is a wonderful resource that is underutilized.  We hope that this endeavor will showcase the natural beauty and the need to properly maintain it as our resource.  We thank our past attendees for their support and welcome you to join us again this year.  We look forward to seeing all at DARDAB on Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 6-10 PM at 919 South Main Street, Piqua, OH 45356.
