Down A River, Down A Beer (DARDAB) began in 2014 with Dr. Jim and Cheryl Burkhardt having a conversation over a beer! No surprise there! They had hosted several small beer events in our community, and had attended several large beer festivals. They thought maybe they should have a beer festival in Piqua. “You know what we could do . . . “ is a common phrase to open the door to ideas. DARDAB has grown to include 99 craft beers, river events, music, food and River Fire Rings.
DARDAB centers around the popularity of craft beer, bike trails, the Great Miami River and getting together with friends. All the proceeds from DARDAB have gone to promoting our exceptional river and bike trail systems, and thus far we have contributed over $25,000 to organizations such as Protecting Our Water Ways (POWW), Edison State Community College and Upper Valley Career Center.
We have been very fortunate to have great support in our town in the form of sponsorships, volunteers and exciting river activities. We look forward to seeing you at DARDAB this year.
FOR THE GOOD OF THE CAUSE
DARDAB '21 proceeds helped clean out the Great Miami River of debris and litter as well as a donation to clear out Honeysuckle from the river bank to open up and widen then views of the river. Proceeds have also been used to purchase kayaks for Edison State Community College and UVCC to assist in the education of students in Environmental Science courses. The Great Miami River is a wonderful resource that is underutilized. We hope that this endeavor will showcase the natural beauty and the need to properly maintain it as our resource. We thank our past attendees for their support and welcome you to join us again this year.
